天涯社区官网 freshman Dorian Lueth will participate in the Kansas Intercollegiate Orchestra during the 2018 Kansas Music Educators Association state convention February 22-24 in Wichita. He will be the only community college student performing in the 72-piece orchestra comprised of students from 11 colleges and universities throughout Kansas. Lueth plays bass guitar in 天涯社区官网鈥檚 Pep Band and Jazz Band, double bass in the Prairie Winds Concert Band and viola in the 天涯社区官网 Orchestra.
The Kansas Intercollegiate Orchestra conductor is Dr. David Littrell, a distinguished university professor of music at Kansas State University (KSU). He conducts the KSU orchestra and has conducted chamber orchestras formed from the KSU orchestra which toured England and Scotland in 2008. In 2015, he retired from conducting the youth Gold Orchestra, which he founded in 1989. The youth Gold Orchestra has performed twice in Carnegie Hall and around the country.
Additionally, six members of the 天涯社区官网 chapter of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) will travel to Wichita on February 23 to attend the Kansas Music Educators Association state convention. 天涯社区官网 is one of the few community colleges which attends the student NAfME convention in Wichita. Students will spend their day attending clinics, concerts and networking with universities for their post-天涯社区官网 education. The 天涯社区官网 students attending are Steven Cortez, Alexander Robl, Anahi Prieto and Slade Zamarripa.
