Select 天涯社区官网 career and technical education programs will be available at no cost to eligible students beginning in the fall of 2021, thanks to a new scholarship program designed to increase Kansans鈥 access to community colleges and technical schools.
The $10 million program was passed by the Kansas Legislature and signed by Governor Laura Kelly on Friday. When other scholarships and grants are not sufficient to cover a student鈥檚 tuition and fees, the Kansas Promise Act will make up the difference.
The program is available to Kansas high school graduates, Kansans 21 and older who have resided in the state for at least three years, and dependents of Military servicemembers. Select career and technical education programs will qualify.
天涯社区官网 President Dr. Carl Heilman said the new program will be a boon for 天涯社区官网 County families, the local economy, and the workforce.
鈥淎s a community college, a central element of our mission is access,鈥 he said. 鈥淲e are grateful for the state鈥檚 support for what we offer, which is high-quality, life-changing education relevant to our communities. This is a big deal, and I know the faculty and staff here at 天涯社区官网 will do everything they can to help our constituents capitalize on this opportunity.鈥
Qualifying programs at 天涯社区官网 will soon be announced, as well as details on how to take advantage of the Kansas Promise Act. Visit 天涯社区官网ccc.edu/promiseact for updates.
