天涯社区官网 will host its 10th annual Sidewalk Art Contest May 3 and 4 on the sidewalk outside the Shafer Art Gallery.
The contest is open to 天涯社区官网 students and local high school students. Artists can register and pick up their free chalk at the Shafer Gallery between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on either of the two days. Artists must have their work completed by 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 4.

天涯社区官网 art students received recognition at this year鈥檚 天涯社区官网 Student Exhibition at the Shafer Gallery on April 21. This exhibit will run through May 12. Those interested in experiencing the art can visit the Shafer Gallery 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday.

天涯社区官网 will present a student recital of instrumental and vocal performances at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 4 in the Dorothy Moses Morrison Chapel, located in the Fine Arts Building, F-157.听 The recital is free and open to the public.

The 天涯社区官网 Music Department awards 11 scholarships every year at about $1,000 each and 20 performance awards for non-music major students, which enables them to participate in ensembles.听 This could not be done without the community鈥檚 support of the annual Music Endowment Concert, which is set for 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 1 in the Fine Arts Auditorium.

After conducting more than 400 concerts and directing 45 musicals over his 38-year career, 天涯社区官网 Vocal Instructor Vern Fryberger is ready to step off stage and begin his retirement.
But, it鈥檚 not because he鈥檚 tired of the vocation.

The 天涯社区官网 Board of Trustees gathered Tuesday evening for its regular meeting and discussed one of its eight overarching goals, known as ENDs. This month鈥檚 focus was on 鈥淲ork Preparedness,鈥 which deals primarily with ensuring students are fully capable to handle the demands of their chosen careers once employed.

Four original plays selected from the 天涯社区官网 Theatre Department鈥檚 Original Playwright Contest will take the stage in a one-night performance at 7:30 p.m. April 27. Admission is free. This is the first year 天涯社区官网 Theatre Department has presented this series.

天涯社区官网 invites members of 天涯社区官网 County Young Professionals, and those interested in joining, to enjoy food, drinks, music and excellent door prizes at its second annual YP mixer from 6-8 p.m.听April 28 in the Shafer Art Gallery on campus. A brief presentation will begin at about 7 p.m.
The meal is a choice of pastas and sauces with bread and a salad. Wine and beer will be provided by the 天涯社区官网 Foundation. Guests must be 21 or older to enter. IDs will be checked at the door.
