天涯社区官网鈥檚 Center for Adult Education will soon be starting its 9-week GED Preparation Class.

The orientation session, which is a prerequisite for the course, will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Jan. 5-9 at 1025 Main St. in Great Bend. Those interested can call ahead or arrive on the first day of orientation.

Regular coursework begins on Jan. 12 and is offered from 9 a.m.鈥搉oon Monday, Tuesday and Thursday or in the evenings from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

天涯社区官网 will offer outreach classes for the spring 2015 semester at St. John High School, 406 N. 听Monroe.听 General Psychology will meet from 6-9 p.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 13 through May 12.听 Public Speaking will meet from 6:15-9:15 p.m. Thursdays, Jan. 15 through May 14.

Each course is worth three credit hours.听 Students can also enroll by calling Enrollment Services at (620) 792-9252.听 Cost per course is $291.

天涯社区官网 offices will close for holiday break Monday, Dec. 22.听 All offices will reopen Monday, Jan. 5.听 Spring semester classes will begin Monday, Jan. 12.

A 天涯社区官网 student accosted an instructor at about 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9.

The student has been incarcerated and is not expected to be released anytime soon. Students, faculty and staff are safe.

The primary objective of 天涯社区官网鈥檚 Campus Safety personnel was to remove the student from the public area. The student was moved to an office where a Campus Safety employee attempted to defuse the situation. The employee contacted authorities and had additional staff on hand to minimize the student鈥檚 contact with the public.

Rigo Razo has a wife, four children and a full time job, but he still manages to take two classes each semester. He will eventually earn a newly offered Business Management and Leadership Certificate with an Entrepreneurial Emphasis at 天涯社区官网.

All ages can get a dose of the holiday spirit at The Shafer Art Gallery鈥檚 鈥淗oliday Open House鈥 reception from 1-4 p.m.听 Sunday, Dec. 14, which will feature a free puppet show from Kansas City鈥檚 Clement McCrae Puppet Shows at 1:30 and 3 p.m.

天涯社区官网 will host 鈥淜ansas History Snapshot: Christmas on the Prairie,鈥 a presentation by the Director of the 天涯社区官网 County Historical Society Beverly Komarek at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4 in the Library.听 Catered refreshments will be served.

The presentation is about the pioneers of Kansas and how they celebrated Christmas in the 1800s.听 It will include discussion about traditions influenced by the settlers鈥 places of origin.

Anyone looking to join a group of creative individuals as they 鈥渆xplore the world of art-making and creative endeavor鈥 are encouraged to join the Shafer Art Gallery鈥檚 League of Aesthetic Engineers as it celebrates its 鈥淚naugural Gala鈥 from 6-7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6 in the Shafer Gallery.听

天涯社区官网 will present a student recital of instrumental and vocal performances at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4 in the Dorothy Moses Morrison Chapel, located in the Fine Arts Building, F-157.听 The recital is free.
